Ceradyne's boron enrichment process removes the natural limitation of boron in the ¹⁰Boron isotope. ¹⁰Boron enrichments are available in a wide variety of compounds with a very high thermal neutron capture cross section. When ¹⁰Boron captures a thermal neutron, it does not produce any long-lived radioactive daughter products. As a result, enriched boron has found a wide application in the nuclear industry.
